Spring Candle holders

It all started at the dollar store as usual.  I found these that I have passes a million times.  Wouldn't they be great in color.  They are a bit plain and small for me to use so I wanted to jazz them up a bit.

I stacked them and glued them in place just with a glue gun.  They hold really well.
I picked my colors and spray painted them.  They will be going on my mantel for spring.  I will be revealing that next week when I finish all my projects.

On to the next project.  I think the eggs I got from IKEA will need some accessorizing as well.

Cute little box

I love little boxes and thought I might make one just for Spring.
I have purchased some records from a local flea market and decided to use the cover for this box.  { I will be using the record soon in a project}  I cut it in half then cut the half into 3 parts as in below.  I also cut 3 sides from the other half.  You should have 2 equal squares and 4 equal rectangles for the sides.  The squares are 5 1/2 inches and the sides should be 4 1/2 by 2 inches.
I arrange them in a scrapbook paper and used spray adhesive then fold them in.
For the sides I wrapped them with with the paper and added tabs on the bottom to attach.
I had attached the sides to form a square them attached them to the box top and bottom.  Make sure to crease well on both sides for the nicest finish.  I also glued another piece of scrap paper on the inside to cover the seams.
Once the tabs glued down I put another paper over the bottom of the box for a nice finish.
Here it is almost finished.  I put a magnet on the lid and a nail glued to the inside for the metal piece to hold down the top.  I added a decorative lock and here it is.  Perfect for display or great for gift giving.  Today were off to the Mountain for some sledding.    Happy Crafting!

Spring has sprung Craft week.

I am excited about setting out the bright colors of spring.  New flowers are starting to pop up in bright beautiful colors.  The sun is shining more often and less rain .  The grass is growing and is a bright green.  There is so much I love about spring.  Easter is a great kick off for the spring season and I wanted to start this week off with a printable for Easter.  I will be posting all week my Spring crafts to decorate and share spring all around.

I used the bunny silhouette from Graphic Fairy L.L.C.  and altered it by changing the color and adding word graphics.  It was fun and a nice add to my spring home.
{ you may need to size it to the page}

I will be adding it to my decor so look for it in up coming posts.

Spring break were headed off to the mountain to enjoy the snow and then to the beach.  I am just glad to get out of the house.

Twenty tips you can't do with out

1.  When your feel sick and stuffy put some Vicks on your heels. It absorbs quickly and you can feel it work in 10 minutes.
2.  Lemon  or Orange peels down sink disposal will clean and freshen your sink.
3.  Lavender essential oil drops in water,  spray against bugs, like bed bugs.  They don't like it.
4. Tea tree oil spray for disinfecting.  A few drops in water is a great anti bacterial.
5.  Use a  Can lid or yogurt lid on top of a can of pop to keep it fresh in the fridge.
6. Lanolin for softening skin
7. To catch fruit flies with a funnel and sweet vinegar placed in a jar.  The funnel will let them in and they can't get out.
8.Use rubber gloves to get hair off your couch
9. Vaseline on your eyelashes at night is suppose to help them thicken and grow, (besides it will condition them.)
10. Use chilli hot sauce to get rid of ants in your kitchen.  Place it along the path of the ants and along the back of the countertop.  They don't like it.
11.  Remove paint drops of latex with window cleaner.  Let sit to soften and rub off with a green scrub pad or credit card depending on surface.
12. Magic erasure to remove crayon off walls.  {its my favorite cleaner tool.}

13.  To keep little mans socks on use a soft scrunchie around the ankles,  make sure it is soft and loose.
 14.  Use your vacuum brush extention to clean vents.

 15.  Milk in glass is amazing!!!
 16.  Try Coconut oil replacing crisco or butter for cooking pancakes to cookies.  It adds a touch of coconut flavor.

17. Use a flat head screw driver to knock in molly's.  Then fill the hole.

18.  Place tape on the corners of the vacuum to help protect baseboards from getting marked.

19.  Use a plastic bottle cap to hold up colored eggs.

20.  Use baking soda sprinkle on carpets to freshen.  It absorbs odor and then vacuum up.

Pallet Shelves

This is a project I have been waiting to finish and now that it is done I am so excited about how it turned out.  I am always driving by warehouses that have free pallets and wood out for the taking.  Free is always exciting.  I finally took the time and grabbed a few pallets to start some projects.  The original idea is from Pintrest, you can see my boards by clicking on the button in the side bar.

I left the rustic look of the pallet in place and we made a couple of cuts.  We then took an extra board and nailed it to the bottom for a shelf.

Clean Paint lines.

Painting baseboards and corner lines can be frustrating when you get paint bleed through under the tape.  There are many tricks to avoid this even buying Frog tape can help.  However, the cost of frog tape can be avoided with just using masking tape with this trick.  I use this especially for tape lines on stripes or patterns on the wall.  It is easy when you have both colors you are dividing.  There are several tricks and I will be coming back to those over the next several weeks.

When I painted the baseboards, I overlapped onto the wall.  Now I can tape off for the wall paint.
Once the tape is down rub over it with a rag to seal it down and then paint using the color underneath.  If any paint bleeds through it will be the white and will dry the tape down.   Let the white dry and then paint the wall as you would.  Once the paint is dry again pull the tape off.  Now you will have razor sharp lines.

Paint stick Easter plaque

Here is a great way to make an inexpensive plaque.  I started with paint stir sticks and cut the tops off.  Hot glued the brace on the back with 2 more sticks and painted the front a light blue.

Glued the ribbon on the back to hang it. and decorated the front with crate paper rosettes and glittered letters.
